Medicaid drops local plan from initial contract list.
This hurts Washingtonians – particularly children.
On January 17th, the Health Care Authority (HCA) left Columbia United Providers (CUP) out its initial list of Medicaid contractors after 18 years of successfully coordinating care for patients in Southwest Washington.
The consequence of this preliminary decision could cause a significant blow to access to care for low income families, and primarily women and children — CUP covers 47,000 patients in Clark County, 75% of which are children.
